IB MYP
Wilson Middle School IB Candidacy Journey
Wilson Middle School is proud to be an International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) Candidate School. We were granted candidacy in December 2024 and launched our first full year of trial teaching in August 2025.
As a candidate school, we are actively implementing the IB MYP framework—a globally recognized approach to teaching and learning that develops curious, confident, and compassionate learners. During our candidacy years, our teachers are engaging in IB training, designing inquiry-based units, and building meaningful connections across subjects to support students in becoming thoughtful global citizens.
Following this candidacy phase, Wilson will apply for authorization to become an official IB World School. This status is recognized around the world and reflects a school’s commitment to high-quality, internationally minded education. We look forward to sharing our progress with our community as we grow on our IB journey.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP)
Why choose Wilson IB MYP?
At Wilson Middle School, students benefit from the strength of Plano ISD’s rigorous curriculum while experiencing the added depth and global perspective of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP). Plano ISD’s curriculum and our teaching is firmly grounded in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) with the layering of the IB framework on top to create a learning experience that is truly unique to our campus and engaging for all students.
The MYP helps students grow as confident thinkers, strong communicators, and compassionate young people who are prepared for high school and beyond. Through inquiry-based learning, real-world connections, and intentional focus on the IB Learner Profile traits, students develop both the academic skills and personal qualities needed to thrive.
Families choose to be a Wilson Ram because it is a place where every child is known, supported, and inspired. The combination of strong Plano ISD academics, fine arts, athletics, extracurriculars, and the rich, globally minded IB approach ensures that students are not only meeting state standards—but exceeding them as they grow into well-rounded, curious, and caring global citizens.
